HomeFirst™ in the News - 2006

Barbara, still working, has been a golf course manager in the community for 16 years. She says that she loves her job and loves to golf. It's a job that demands her time seven days a week when it's golf season, so moving to another community that required a long drive was not an option if they chose to move.

The Makarewich family decided that it was time to move. The couple's home had been theirs for over 30 years, and both decided that for reasons of continued maintenance and other considerations it was time to make a move to another home, in their own community. Their criterion for choosing another home was pretty strict. It had to be new, large (2,000 square feet or more) with a large garage, quality construction, low maintenance, and of course, it had to be very affordable.

They didn't look too long. They found the new residence a few short miles from their old home in a new manufactured housing community. The community has a rolling entrance and a white ranch fence. The entrance is decorated with flowers and the boulevard flows to a community clubhouse that serves as management offices and a community center for all of the residents. The community provides a large swimming pool, basketball courts and a kids' playground.

The Makarewich home sits on a large lot, and David has his big garage. The 24 by 30 foot structure matches the architecture of the home and comfortably accommodates the couple's two cars and the former tool and die worker's collection of tools and machines.
